Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of transnasal endoscopic inferior turbinoplasty in the treatment of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis. Methods From Aug 2012 to Mar 2014, thirty patients with chronic hypertrophic rhinitis underwent transnasal endoscopic inferior turbinoplasty in our hospital, in which the hyperplastic bone mass of inferior turbinate was partly excised with bony framework kept. These patients were asked to revisit at regular intervals for the postoperative efficacy assessment. Results The total effective rate of thirty patients was 100%, and the nasal obstruction alleviated significantly, with no complication affecting physiological function of nasal cavity occured. Conclusion Treatment of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis with the above method of inferior turbinoplasty is characterized with smaller incision, better clinical effect, faster recovery, and meeting the requirement of physiological function of nasal cavity, which is worthy of clinical promotion. |
