Objective To explore the effect of cluster-based nursing strategy on the treatment of postoperative delirium (POD) in the elderly patients with hip fracture. Methods 63 cases of elderly patients with hip fracture, underwent operation in our hospital from Jun 2014 to Jun 2016, were divided into the treatment group (32 cases) and the control group (31 cases) by simple randomization method. Besides the routine nursing service for patients in the two groups, the patients in the treatment group were further given the cluster-based nursing treatment. The incidence of POD, sleep quality index, pain score and average hospital stays between the two groups were compared. Results The incidence of POD in the treatment group was 3.12%, which was significantly different from the incidence of 22.58% in the control group (P<0.05). The average hospital stays, sleep quality index and pain score in the treatment group were (16.82±2.82) days, (9.23±2.15) and (3.87±1.87), respectively, whereas in the control group they were (18.61±3.72) days, (11.24±4.31) and (5.32±1.51), respectively, and significant differences were found between the two groups (all P<0.05). Conclusion The perioperative treatment with cluster-based nursing strategy in the elderly patients with hip fracture could effectively reduce the incidence of POD, alleviate their pain and improve their sleep quality, and further shorten the average hospital stays and improve the postoperative quality of life. |
