Objective To investigate the safety and feasibility of application of laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery to the treatment of gastric stromal tumors(GSTs). Methods The clinical data were analyzed for 136 surgical patients with gastric stromal tumor from Jan 2014 to June 2016. Among them, 44 patients underwent laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery(combination group), 42 patients underwent gastroscopy(endoscopy group) while another 50 patients laparoscopy alone (laparoscopy group). The operation time, intraoperative bleeding volume, postoperative recovery time, gastrointestinal function, postoperative ambulation time and postoperative hospital stay, complications and recurrence after operation were compared between different groups. Results The therapies were completed successfully without death, and no recurrence or metastasis was found during the follow-up. The operation time, blood loss, recovery time of gastrointestinal function, time of ambulation and postoperative hospitalization were significantly shorter or less in the combination group than those in the laparoscopy group (P<0.05); the diameter of tumor, operation time, recovery time of gastrointestinal function, time of ambulation and postoperative hospitalization were significantly less or shorter in the endoscopy group than those in the laparoscopy group (P<0.05). Conclusion Application of laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery is more suitable for gastric stromal tumors with diameter range of 10 cm, which is safe and feasible due to less trauma and faster postoperative recovery. As for patients with small tumors, the endoscopy surgery has better effect. However, long-term effect of laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery still needs further study. |
