Objective To investigate the effect of periodontal intervention on serum adiponectin (APN) and inflammatory factors in diabetic patients with periodontitis. Methods Atotal of 220 diabetic patients with periodontitis were selected from the Department of Stomatology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University from April 2015 to Dec 2016. The patients were divided into the intervention group (periodontal intervention treatment) and the control group according to the random number table, with 110 cases in each group. Before and after treatment, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, FBG, HbAlc, FINS, HOMA-IR and hs-CRP, TNF-α, IL-6, APN levelwere measured. Results After three months of periodontal intervention in intervention group, periodontal indicators,FBG,TG,FINS, HOMA-IR, hs-CRP, TNF-α, and IL-6 were significantly lower than the baseline and those of control group, while HDL-C and APN were significantly higher than the baseline and those ofcontrol group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Periodontal intervention can significantly improve periodontal inflammation, glucolipid metabolism and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes and periodontitis. |
