Objective To explore the factors influencing the demand for supportive services and unmet needs of patients with Parkinson's disease, and to provide reference for the formulation of targeted intervention measures. Methods A total of 213 patients with PD admitted to the Department of Neurology of Lu’an People’s Hospital affiliated to Anhui Medical University from June 2022 to June 2024 were selected as the investigation objects, andunivariate and multivariate analysis were used to analyze the characteristics of PD patients’ demand for supportive services, and the influencing factors of their unmet demand. Results The cumulative support service requirement score for PD patients amounted to (101.67±10.56), whereas the score for unfulfilled support service needs was (87.71±8.81). A univariate examination revealed that there were considerable statistical disparities in the supportive service demand scores and unmet needs across PD patients of varying ages, martial statuses, educational backgrounds, primary caregivers, hospital expense payment methods, and levels of daily dependency (P<0.05). Through multiple linear regression analysis, it was determined that age, martial status, monthly household income per capita, level of disease comprehension, and the stage of the illness were pivotal determinants influencing the requirement for supportive services in PD patients (P<0.05). Additionally, these factors-age, martial status, monthly household income per capita, level of disease understanding, and disease progression-also significantly contributed to the unmet demand for supportive services (P<0.05). Conclusion The determinants affecting both the demand for and the unmet demand for supportive services in PD patients exhibit commonalities, indicating a need for focused interventions and enhancements. |
