Objective To investigate theinfection situation and drug resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Department of Geriatricsin a hospital. Methods Sputum, urine, and blood samples were collected during the year of 2014. The bacteria identification and drug sensitivity analysis were done by using VITEK 2 compact. Results There were 29 Pseudomonas aeruginosa cases from sputum and urine samples detected in 63 bacteria cases with the detecting rate of 46.03%; 26 (89.66%) cases were from sputum samples whereas 3(10.34%) cases were from urine. Among all detected Pseudomonas aeruginosa cases, 16(55.17%) of them were multi-resistant. Drugs with resistance rate less than 10% were Amikacin, gentamicin and tobramycin; drugs with resistance rate higher than 80% were piperacillin, cefazolin, ceftriaxone, cefotetan, cotrimoxazole, and nitrofurantoin, and the resistance rate of imipenem was 13.79%.Conclusion Elderly patients are susceptible to Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection with clinical manifestation of pneumonia anda high rate of antibiotics resistance. |
