Objective To observe the curative effect of cognitive behavior therapy on mental disorders in those patients with primary or secondary syphilis. Methods From Jan 2016 to Mar 2017, 64 cases of out patients with primary or secondary syphilis treated in our hospital were enrolled as the study objectives, including 36 cases with primary syphilis and 28 cases with secondary syphilis. All patients were divided into the study group and the control group by means of random number table, 32 cases in each group. Besides routine treatment and care given to the control group, patients in the study group received additional cognitive behavior therapy. Scores of self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS) and Barthel index scale before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment between the two groups were compared. Results Before treatment, the SAS scores of the study and control groups were (54.05±4.80) and (52.94±5.05), respectively, and the SDS scores of them were (54.16±4.82) and (55.43±4.13), respectively, with no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). After 4 weeks of cognitive behavior therapy, the scores of SAS (49.25±3.16) and SDS (48.49±3.23) in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group[(51.90±3.07), (51.77±3.67); P<0.05].In the study group, the Barthel index after treatment was better than that in the control group (Z=2.466; P=0.014), and its daily living ability after treatment was higher than that before treatment (Z=2.611;P=0.009).Conclusion Application of cognitive behavior therapy can not only relievethe mental disorders of patients with primary or secondary syphilis, but also improve their daily living abilities. |
