Objective To analyze thecardiac structure and function changesusing echocardiography in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) and patients with hypothyroidism. Methods We retrospectively studied the clinical data of patients admitted to Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital, Capital Medical Universitybetween 2011 to 2017,of whom 58 patients were recruited as hypothyroidism group and 21 as SCH group. Another 65 subjects with euthyroidism were selected as control group. Echocardiographic parameters such as left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVESD), left ventricular ejection fraction, and aortic sinus diameter were compared between the three groups. The effects of thyroid function status on cardiac structure and function in three groupswere analyzed. Results LVEDD in control group, SCH group, and hypothyroidism group was(47.69±4.13) mm, (45.33±4.45) mm and (42.81±4.26) mm, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). LVESD in control group, SCH group and hypothyroidism group was (29.69±3.34) mm, (27.45±4.16) mm and (26.48±3.89) mm, respectively, andthe difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Patients with SCH and hypothyroidism have reduced LVEDD and LVESD and decreased left ventricular function. |
