Objective To investigate the effectof adjuvant chemotherapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine on stage Ⅲ colon cancer. Methods From January 2016 to January 2018, 80 patients with stage Ⅲ colon cancer who received postoperative XELOX chemotherapy in the Department of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine and the Department of tumor chemotherapy of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China were analyzed retrospectively. Among them, 40 patients treated with traditional Chinese medicine at the same time were taken as the experimental group and 40 patients with simple adjuvant chemotherapy as the control group. All patients were followed up to 6 months, the changes of blood routine, liver and kidney function, serum CEA, CA199, CA125 and quality of life table (QLQ-C30) were observed before and on6th week during chemotherapy. Results There were 7 cases of adverse reactions in experimental group and 20 cases in control group on6th week during chemotherapy, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).CEA, CA125 and CA199 levels in experimental group decreased by (6.72±0.89) ng/mL, (2.82±1.65) μ/mL and (13.00±2.33) μ/mL respectively on 6th week during chemotherapy, which were higher than those in control group, and the difference was statistically significantly(P<0.05). The difference value of scores of fatigue, sleep disorder, nausea and vomiting, anorexia, pain, diarrhea in experimental group were higher than those in control group on 6th week during chemotherapy, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusions The combination of adjuvant chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine can not only effectively inhibit cancer cells, but also markedly reduce the incidence of adverse reactions after chemotherapy, which is helpful to improve the quality of life of patients after chemotherapy. |
