Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of 166 inpatients with chronic wounds in tibia with bone exposure. Methods The medical records of patients with chronic wounds in tibia with bone exposure who were admitted to the CentralHospital of Enshi Prefecture from January 2013 to December 2019 were screened out by the information system according to the disease codes,including gender, age, recovery status, hospitalization time, hospitalization cost,treatment method and medical expenses.Data were statistically analyzed according to different wound types. Results There were 42 traumatic wounds, 30 unhealed wounds after surgery, 26 infectious wounds, 24 vascular wounds,20 diabetic wounds,17 tumor wounds and 7other wounds.Among the patients there were 106 males(63.85%) and 60 females(36.15%). There was statistically significant difference in gender distribution of patients with different types of chronic wounds(χ2=25.325, P<0.01).Patients aged 41-60 years had a high incidence of traumatic wounds,while those aged above 60 years had a high incidence of unhealed wounds after surgery,infectious wounds and vascular wounds. There was statistically significant difference in age group distribution of patients with different types of chronic wounds(χ2=15.256, P<0.05). The average hospitalization time of patients with chronic wounds was 37 days with the average hospitalization cost of 41750 yuan.There were high cure rates for traumatic wounds(59.52%) and unhealed wounds after surgery(66.66%).There was no statistically significant difference in the hospitalization time of patients with different types of chronic wounds(χ2=32.241, P>0.05).There were statistically significant differences in the recovery status and hospitalization cost of patients with different types of chronic wounds(χ2=13.325, 126.327,P<0.05). Conclusions Patients with chronic wounds in tibia with bone exposure are mainly middle-aged and elderly people with more male patients than female patients. The main types of wounds are traumatic wounds and unhealed wounds after surgery,which bring serious economic burden to the patients and the society.Thus it is necessary to strengthen the prevention and health education of chronic wounds. |
